<span>The Treaty of Paris of 1763 ended the French and Indian War/Seven Years' War between Great Britain and France, as well as their respective allies. In the terms of the treaty, France gave up all its territories in mainland North America, effectively ending any foreign military threat to the British colonies there.</span>
One of the major long term effects of the War of 1812 was that, although it technically ended in a stand-off between America and Britain, it greatly boosted the confidence and nationalist sentiment of Americans, since it proved once again that they could fight of a major world power.
The Alamo was originally built to be a church for the mission San Antonio de Valero, which was founded in 1718.
