2. Absorption of nutrients:

The small intestine absorbs most of the nutrients inside of your food, and your circulatory system passes them to other parts of your body to store or use. Special cells can help absorbed nutrients to cross the intestinal lining and into your bloodstream.

3. Elimination of solid food waste:

The final step in digestion is the elimination of undigested food and waste products. After the food passes through the small intestine, the undigested food enters the colon, where most of the water is reabsorbed. The solid waste is eliminated through the anus using peristaltic movements of the rectum.
