Answer:

Lavania observed 39 fruit flies after 6 days of observation

Step-by-step explanation:

Let x be the number of fruit flies on the first day of Lavania's study.

After 6 days she had nine more than five times as many fruit flies as when she began the study.

Five times as many fruit flies as when she began the study = 5x

Nine more than five times as many fruit flies as when she began the study=5x+9

The expression to find the population of fruit flies Lavania observed after 6 days is 5x+9

If she observes 20 fruit flies on the first day of the study, then x=6, then

5x+9=5\cdot 6+9=30+9=39

Ben can paint 280 square feet in 12 minutes. How many square feet can he paint in 1 hour?
NemiM [27]

Answer:

1400 sq. ft

Step-by-step explanation:

60 min = 1 hour

280 sq. ft / 12 min = x / 60 min

x = 60 min * (280 sq. ft / 12 min)

minuets cancel out

x = 1400 sq. ft

Help, pls!!!
alina1380 [7]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

Let's start with this. When do you think the mean would NOT be an appropriate measure of center? Well, maybe your data points are 1,2,4,1,5,3, 1,000,000. If you took the mean of that it wouldn't be anywhere near any of the numbers, and would just be in between two. So not in the center at all.

The point is you want your data set well balanced. You want about an equal number on one side as the other. So let's look at yours.

The furthest away from the middle has 11 on the left side and 12 on the right. If youw ere weighing them on a scale and took the 11 and 12 as the weight, they would be pretty close to equal. The next two are 21 and 23. Less close, but still only two away. The middle is the middle, so nothing to balance it out with. If you look at it as a whole, the right side is 3 more than the left. I would say 3 is still pretty close when you are looking at "weights" above 10. So I would say mean is a pretty appropriate measure of center.

Stats takes a lot of "gut feelings" like this. Thinking, "yeah, these are pretty close" so you'll get the hang of it pretty soon.

Leona [35]

the approximate circumference of a lid that will fit his frying is 34.5 inches .

Step-by-step explanation:

Here we have , Jonathan wants to buy a lid for his frying pan. The diameter of the pan is 11 inches. We need to find What is the approximate circumference of a lid that will fit his frying . Let's find out:

We know that a lid for his frying pan is basically in shape of circle , So we consider a lid for his frying pan as a circle ! Now ,

Circumference of circle = 2\pi r , r = radius

⇒ Circumference =2\pi r

⇒ Circumference =2\pi \frac{D}{2}

⇒ Circumference =\pi D , D = Diameter = 11 inches

⇒ Circumference =\pi (11)

⇒ Circumference =(3.14) (11)

⇒ Circumference =34.5inches

Therefore , the approximate circumference of a lid that will fit his frying is 34.5 inches .

Mark and Don are planning to sell each of their marble collections at a garage sale. If Don has 2 more than 5 times the number o
ch4aika [34]

Mark and Don have 18 and 92 marbles respectively.

What is the solution of the equation?

Equations are mathematical statements with two algebraic expressions flanking the equals (=) sign on either side. It demonstrates the equality of the relationship between the expressions printed on the left and right sides. We have LHS = RHS (left hand side = right hand side) in every mathematical equation. To determine the value of an unknown variable that represents an unknown quantity, equations can be solved.

Let the number of marbles Mark has be x.

According to the question,

Don has (5x+2) marbles.

Total number of marbles=110

Thus, the required equation is:

x+5x+2=110

6x=108

x=108/6

x=18

Mark has 18 marbles.

Don has (5*18+2)=92 marbles.
