X² + 11x + 24 = 0

24*1 = 24

We think of 2 numbers that multiply to give 24 and add up to give 11

The 2 numbers are 8 and 3.

8*3 = 24      and  8 + 3 = 11

So the 11x in    x² + 11x + 24 = 0

Replace 11x with (3x + 8x)

 x² + 11x + 24 = 0

x² + 3x + 8x + 24 = 0            Factorize.

x(x + 3) + 8(x + 3) = 0

(x + 3)(x + 8) = 0

That means:

x + 3 = 0    or  x + 8 = 0

x = 0 - 3                x = 0 - 8

x = -3        or        x = -8

Therefore:  x² + 11x + 24 = 0  is (x + 3)(x + 8) = 0   and x = -3 or x = -8

Hope this helps.

HELP ME FOR A BRAINLIST AND 20 POINTS
Feliz [49]

Answer:

Area = \frac{5}{12} x²

Step-by-step explanation:

The area (A) of a triangle is calculated as

A = \frac{1}{2} bh ( b is the base and h the perpendicular height )

Here b = \frac{5}{6} x and h = x, thus

A = \frac{1}{2} × \frac{5}{6} x × x = \frac{5}{12} x²

Write the absolute value function as a piecewise-defined function with linear parts.
KengaRu [80]

The piecewise-defined function with linear parts f(x)= |2x + 9|

f(x) = {2x + 9   x ≥ -9/2)

     {-2x - 9   x < 9/2}

<h3>How to write piecewise functions?</h3>

To write this function as a piecewise function, you have to use the definition of absolute value.

The absolute value equation is; f(x)= |2x + 9|

The definition says that;

|x| = {x   x ≥ 0)

     {-x   x < 0}

Applying this definition to the function you get:

|2x + 9| = {2x + 9   2x + 9 ≥ 0)

     {-2x - 9   2x + 9 < 0}

After simplifying the inequalities you get:

|2x + 9| = {2x + 9   x ≥ -9/2)

     {-2x - 9   x < 9/2}

So finally you can write the piecewise  function as:

f(x) = {2x + 9   x ≥ -9/2)

     {-2x - 9   x < 9/2}
