n + 1

and

n + 2 are our side lengths.   adding 1 to n gives us the next integer.  Adding 2 to n gives use the second consecutive integer to n

The perimeter is 12, so our equation is..

n + (n + 1) + (n + 2) = 12

Now combine like terms and solve..

   n + n + 1 + n + 2 = 12

       3n + 3 = 12

           3n = 9        (subtract  3 from both is sides)

               n = 3        (divide by 3 on both sides)

Since n = 3,

n + 1 = 4 and

n + 2 = 5

So the sides are 3, 4, and 5
