|EF| = √(x₂-x₁)² + (y₂-y₁)²

E(-1, 1)   F(3,1)

x₁=-1

y₁=1

x₂ =3

y₂ = 1

We can now proceed to substitute the values into the formula;

|EF| = √(3+ 1)² + (1-1)²

      = √(4)² + (0)²

      = √(4)²
