Explanation:

Although media companies have various critics, there is one positive effect of free press and media in the United States; they help the American public monitor and influence government officials. by covering all sorts of events and stories that are linked to the government and its officials, media companies are making it possible for the American citizens and public opinion to be updated to the latest issue the country may be dealing with. The citizens form opinions based on the information the media outlets give, and they monitor and press the government's officials to act in favor of the public interest.
