The American decision to sell arms to Iran came into practice in order to obtain the American Hostages.Who were being held hostage by the Hezbollah in Lebanon.Hezbollah was an paramilitary group with connection with Iran. The Iranian had promised to try their best to make sure that these hostages were set free.
And because the Iran needed the weapons for the war between them and the Iran they made a deal with America. So they recieved arms from the America so as the Hostages can be set free.
