In grammar, a clause refers to a set of words that express an idea or thought; additionally, these can be dependent if they need from other clauses to be complete or independent if they can stand without any other clause. Additionally, an independent clause create a simple sentence; more than one independent clauses linked by coordinating conjunction such as and, but, etc is a compound sentences and in the case of an independent clause linked to one or more dependent clauses and joined through a subordinating conjunctions such as before, although, when this is a complex sentence. Therefore, a sentence that includes an independent clause and at least one dependent clause is called a complex sentence.
