The Union also had an industrial economy, where the Confederacy had an economy based on agriculture. The Union had most of the natural resources, like coal, iron, and gold, and also a well-developed rail system. This is also why they had more supplies like weapons and military gear, Unlike the Confederacy. This also explains why the North won the Civil War. They had more man power and more resources than the Confederate States.
