In a PowerPoint you need to make sure that whatever background color you choose, it does not take away from the information on you slides. Use neutral tones, or back or white. You may use lighter colors, just no neons, and try to stay away from warmer tones. Keep the background in lighter pinks, blues, purples, and black and white, and of course the neutrals.

If you use a bright neon pink, it will make it more difficult for your audience to see and focus on your slide. Think of it like doing your makeup. You can't have a neon pink as your foundation, because people can't focus on your other features. You have to go with a foundation that matches your skin tone and that allows people to see the real work.
