The lungs are the source of oxygen for the blood, and the blood vessels pass through it in order to exchange the Carbon dioxide that has been produced through respiration, with fresh oxygen to transport to the muscles so respiration may continue.

There are a large number because a larger surface area means more diffusion can occur, and we want the gas exchange to occur as quickly as possible, so when you're working hard and the muscles need more oxygen, this can be provided.

The only phylum in the group Parazoans is ________. A. Porifera B. Cnidaria C. Lophotrochozoa D. Ctenophora E. Ecdysozoa
ludmilkaskok [199]

Answer:

A. Porifera

Explanation:

Parazoan is a sub-kingdom of animal consisting only of the phylum of sponges (porifera), having two tissue layers only and lacking a nervous system and true digestive cavity.

They have certain characteristics like: sponges are marine, but there are some freshwater sponges that enjoy their water without salt. Most sponges do not have any type of symmetry, but some are radially symmetrical and they come in a variety of shapes, colors, and sizes, they are multicellular, heterotrophic and lack cell walls. Unlike other organisms, sponges lack true tissues and organs.

The mesohyl functions as an endoskeleton in most sponges, and is the only skeleton in soft sponges. This mesohyl is stiffened by mineral spicules, by spongin fibers or both.

a DNA double helix

Explanation:

 • Deoxyribonucleic acid is made up of two chains. A double helical structure is formed when two chains coil around each other. This double helical structure carry genetic information for the growth, reproduction, development and functioning of an organism.
 • The nucleic acid such as DNA and RNA are one of the major types of macromolecules which are necessary for all life forms.
 • The nucleotide is made up of one of four nitrogen containing nucleobases such as Adenine, Guanine, Cytosine and Thymine, Deoxyribose sugar and a Phosphate group.

PLEASE HELP ASAP!!!
Gelneren [198K]

Answer is : C, increase the surface to allow more space for ATP synthesis.

As it produces large amounts of ATP through oxidative metabolism of pyruvates, which are produced by glycolysis. The main job of mitochondria is to perform cellular respiration. This means it takes in nutrients from the cell, breaks it down, and turns it into energy. This energy is then in turn used by the cell to carry out various functions. Each cell contains a different number of mitochondria The number present is dependent upon how much energy the cell requires. The more energy a cell needs the more mitochondria that will be present. Cells have the ability to produce more mitochondria as needed. They also can combine mitochondria to make larger ones. The most prominent roles of mitochondria are to produce the energy currency of the cell, ATP (i.e., phosphorylation of ADP), through respiration, and to regulate cellular metabolism. The central set of reactions involved in ATP production are collectively known as the citric acid cycle, or the Krebs cycle. However, the mitochondrion has many other functions in addition to the production of ATP.
