The length of UV is 6 in because it is parallel to WX.

Find the length of TV:

TV^{2} =\sqrt{TU^{2} +TV^{2}}

TV^{2} =\sqrt{12^{2} +6^{2}}

TV^{2} =\sqrt{144+36}

TV^{2} =\sqrt{180}

TV =6\sqrt{5} = 13.41640786

The length of VX is 9 in because it is parallel to UW.

TX^{2} =\sqrt{TV^{2} +VX^{2}}

TX^{2} =\sqrt{180 +9^{2}}

TX^{2} =\sqrt{180 +81}

TX^{2} =\sqrt{261}

TX =16.15549442

<h2>TX = 16.2 inches</h2>

<h2>Answer:</h2>

<u>The value of TX is </u><u>15 in</u>

<h2>Step-by-step explanation:</h2>

According to Pythagoren theorem

Hyp² = Base² + Perp²

Putting the values

Hyp² = 12² + 9²

Hyp²  = 144 + 81

Hyp² = 225

taking square root on both sides

Hyp = 15

What is the constant of variation,k, of the direct variation,y=kx,through (5,8)
grigory [225]

we know that

A relationship between two variables, x, and y, represent a direct variation if it can be expressed in the form \frac{y}{x}=k or y=kx

where

k is the constant of variation

in this problem we have

the point (5,8)

so

x=5\\y=8

substitute

\frac{y}{x}=k

\frac{8}{5}=k

therefore

<u>the answer is</u>

k=\frac{8}{5}

A pennant is a shape of a triangle has a base of 12 inches and a height of 30 inches. What the area of the pennant?
Korolek [52]

Answer:

180 square inches

Step-by-step explanation:

Area, A is given by A=0.5bh where b is base and h is height. Since both of these dimensions are provided then we substitute the given figures into the formula. Substituting 12 inches for base, b and 30 inches for height, h then the area will be equivalent to

A=0.5*12*30=180 square inches.

Therefore, the area of the described triangle is 180 square inches.
