He began to modify the harsh Legalist government established by the Qin and incorporated Confucian principles. According to Confucian beliefs, the emperor was a role model who should be virtuous and maintain high morals. Liu Bang appointed Confucian scholars to guide his decisions, lowered taxes to relieve the strain on peasants, and continued a policy of unifying China.
Numerous religious temples were found in Catalhuyuk, and sacred animals like leopards, bears, and bulls. Numerous other ritualistic animals were used for religious purposes.
