English

Subject verb agreement is when your subject and you verb basically agree. If your subject is singular than your verb also has to be singular.

Example.

DOG= noun subject
CHASES=verb

The DOG CHASES the cat.

In the sentence you are talking about a single dog so it is singular. Because the noun subject is singular the verb then has to be singular. It wouldn't sound right if you had a plural verb with a singular subject.

Example.

DOGS= subject
CHASE= verb

The DOGS CHASE the cat.

Now in this sentence they are talking about more than one dog so it becomes plural. Because the subject is now plural the verb also has to become plural.

Hope this helped!

finlep [7]
You can highlight and annotate things and put them in direct quotes if you are sealing to give this person credit or reference them in your writings. but otherwise while doing research you shouldn’t be to worried unless you are claiming it as your own work with going no credit

Which of the following sentences is written correctly?
chubhunter [2.5K]

B. Eager to eat, Caleb immediately joined the buffet line.

The other ones don't make sense because the order that the words are put confuses who is doing the action.

For example in the sentence:

Caleb was ready for the party wearing a suit and tie.

The way this sentence was written makes it seem like the party was wearing a suit and tie even though it was Caleb.

This is how it should have been:

Caleb, wearing a suit and tie, was ready for the party

Another example:

Having fun, the dance floor was already full of people.

Who/what was having fun? The dance floor or the people? In this sentence it seems like the dance floor is having fun.

This is how it should have been:

The dace floor was already full of people having fun.

Last example:

He rode in a car that was decorated with his friends

So his car was decorated with little models of his friends. I'm sure he didn't mean this so...

With his friends, he rode in a decorated car.

Hope this made sense and helped you understand!
