( length • width) 4•12= 48
Area = Length x Width in rectangles (Doesn't really matter which number goes where, there's only 2 sides that matter)
A = 12 x 4
A = 48 feet^2
because the two sides are 4 feet x 12 feet
Two equal variables multiplied at each other can be written as an exponent
