Merchants of the Silk Road usually traveled by caravans and camels, going miles and miles to drop off and exchange different goods. Although it is called the Silk Road, more things than silk were being traded; spices, sugar, different types of silverware and porcelain plates were being exchanged. The Silk Road was very important during this time, as it promoted engaging in different cultures, growing ideas, and creating new inventions. The Song Dynasty and the Tang Dynasty were two big influences in the Silk Road, and often traded among each other and with other cultures.
