In a class in which the final course grade depends entirely on the average of four equally weighted 100-point tests, David has s

cored 81, 92, and 74 on the first three. What range of scores on the fourth test will give David a B for the semester (an average between 80 and 89, inclusive)?Assume that all test scores have a non-negative value.

Answer:

The answer in interval notation is ( 73 ,  100 )

Step-by-step explanation:

If we call x and y the lower and upper values for David to get an average of 80 and 89 respectively, we can calculate these two values solving a pair of equations:

(81  +  92  + 74  +  x ) / 4  = 80     ⇒   (247  +  x  )/4 = 80

247  +  x  =  320    ⇒    x  =  320 - 247

x  =  73

And

(81  +  92  + 74  +  y ) / 4  = 89     ⇒   ( 247  +  y ) / 4  =  89

247   +  y  =   356

y  =  356  -  247

y  =  109

But tests are a 100-point test

Then the answer in interval notation is ( 73 ,  100 )

Find the number of ways to listen to four CDs from a selection of 8 CDs. A) 1680 B) 336 C) 70 D) 50 pls aslo explain why..
777dan777 [17]

Answer:

a) 1680

<em>The number of ways to listen to four CDs from a selection of 8 CDs = 1680</em>

Step-by-step explanation:

<u><em>Explanation:-</em></u>

Given data the number of CD' s n = 8

<em>We have to selected '4' CD' s  from total '8' CD's</em>

<em>By using permutations </em>

<em>The number of ways to listen to four CDs from a selection of 8 CDs.</em>

<em>                          =     </em>8_{P_{4} }<em> </em>

<em>  we know that </em>

           n_{P_{r} } = \frac{n!}{(n-r)!}

          8_{P_{4} } = \frac{8!}{(8-4)!} = \frac{8 X 7 X 6 x 5 X 4!}{4!} = 1680

<em>The number of ways to listen to four CDs from a selection of 8 CDs = 1680</em>

What is the value of k if 2x^3-3x^2+kx-4 is divided by x-3 and gives a remainder of -7?
Alik [6]

By the polynomial remainder theorem, the remainder upon dividing a polynomial p(x) by x-c is the same as the value of p(c).

Here p(x)=2x^3-3x^2+kx-4 and c=3. We have

p(3)=23+3k=-7\implies k=-10

Does anyone know how to do this? please help me
Elis [28]
On the x column, you would write 1, 2, 3, 4, and so on. Then, in the y box, you plug in that number into the equation. Write your answer in the y column.

For example, if x = 1, then 1^2 + 2 - 8 = - 5.
If x = 1, y= -5

In a right triangle, if a = 8 and c = 17, what is the correct setup to find the value of b?
salantis [7]

Answer:

b =15

Step-by-step explanation:

We can use Pythagoras theorem to find b:

a^{2}+b^{2} = c^{2}

8^{2} + b^{2} = 17^{2}

64 + b^{2} = 289

64 + 225 = 289

64 + 15^{2} = 289

b = 15

hope this helps :) and sorry if not right
