Answer:

<em>"Long since he menaced, such was Fate's command;</em>

<em>And named Ulysses as the destined hand.</em>

<em>I deem'd some godlike giant to behold,</em>

<em>Or lofty hero, haughty, brave, and bold;</em>

<em>Not this weak pigmy wretch, of mean design,</em>

<em>Who, not by strength subdued me, but by wine."</em>

In these lines, the Cyclops states that Fate had long commanded Ulysses to be the hand destined to defeat him. However, he was expecting this hero to be some enormous giant, or a brave and bold hero. Instead, he is disappointed to learn that Ulysses is a tiny being who defeated him not through strength, but by wit.

Anastaziya [24]

Answer:

B

Explanation:

Although A would be a good answer, the passage is more about how Sultan is "loyal to his master" and as he ws good friends with the wolf (and how the wolf did him a favor) the wolf treated it as a joke and took the sheep. Although Sultan did owe his life, that is not what is at stake with the sheep.

i hope this helps

Why do you think Mark Twain uses a young boy as the main character and narrator of the novel? Your response should be at least t
Sedbober [7]

I think one of the main reasons Mark Twain used a young boy as the main character and narrator of such a controversial novel filled with adult themes to convey the innocent side of these adult themes. Telling this story in the eyes of a teenage boy, the morality of these situations appears more obvious. Another reason why Mark Twain used a teenage boy as the main character and narrator in the novel is because it allows Twain to imply a comparison between the powerlessness and the vulnerability of a child and the powerlessness and vulnerability of a black man in the pre-Civil War era. He also may be using a child protagonist to dramatize the conflicts between societal and received morality on one hand and a different kind of morality based on experience and intuition.
