3 0

Answer:

Number pencils Ava bought = 2

Explanation:

Price of pen = 2 $

Price of pencil = 1 $

Total money spent = 12 $

Let the number of pen be a and number of pencil be b.

  2 a + b = 12   -----------------------------------Equation 1

We have, she bought 3 more pens than pencils

   a - b = 3   --------------------------------------  Equation 2

  Equation 1 +Equation 2,

           2 a + b +  a - b = 12 + 3

                 3a = 15

                   a = 5

   Substituting in  equation 2

                 5 - b = 3

                b = 2

    Number pencils Ava bought = 2

If the side lengths of a polygon are: 4x, 6x, 12, and 18 what is the value of x if the perimeter is 118?
Sonja [21]

The value of x for given polynomial is 8.8.

What is Polygon?

The definition of a polygon is given as a closed two-dimensional figure with three or more straight lines.

Here, the length of sides of given Polygon are:

    4x, 6x, 12, 18

Perimeter of polygon = 118 units.

We know that,

Perimeter of polygon = Sum of all sides

                             118 = 4x + 6x + 12 + 18

                             118 = 10x + 30

                             118 - 30 = 10x

                               10x = 88

                               x = 88/10

                               x = 8.8

Thus, the value of x for given polygon is 8.8.

What single percentage change is equivalent to a 15% decrease followed by a 16% decrease?
Tomtit [17]

Answer:

Decrease of 28.6%.

Step-by-step explanation:

The multiplier for a increase of a% is 1 + a/100.

The multiplier for a decrease of b% is 1 - b/100.

Decrease of 15%

1 - 15/100 = 1 - 0.15 = 0.85

Decrease of 16%

1 - 16/100 = 1 - 0.16 = 0.84

Both:

0.85*0.84 = 0.714

Change:

The initial percentage is 100% = 1.

0.714 - 1 = -0.286

Negative, so a decrease

The answer is a decrease of 28.6%.
