The author refutes option A, "<em>People would demand change in the fast-food industry if they could see behind the scenes</em>".

Nowadays all it takes is an online search to find out how sausages, hamburgers, french fries are made to know there are some ethical as well as hygiene problems in the fast food industry; however, most people doesn't really want to think about it because these foods are cheap, and affordable and sometimes that is simply more important: if you're hungry, you'll eat whatever is easier to get, instead of the healthiest or innocuous choice.

First of all, it implies that this is occurring in the future, but not extremely far like 10,000 years from now; it's a reasonable amount of time away.  Second of all, because of the word "finally," we can infer that everyone in that society is equal and that the general consensus about the equality is good.  Because the author uses the word "finally," it makes it seem like they've finally made it through a struggle to reach equality.

This is telling you indirectly that she is a very smart and talkative person. A simile would tell you directly
