You can't find the exact value of y, but you can find y in terms of x!

Adding 3y and subtracting 8 from both sides, we have:

2x-3y+3y-8=8+3y-8

2x-8=3y

Dividing by 3, we see that y=(2x-8)/3.  This is the simplest form we can find for y.
