Osmosis is the movement of water where a high concentration of water moves to an area where there is a low concentration of water so that the concentrations are then equal. No energy is required for this.

What is the different between somatic cells and haploid gamete cells?
cricket20 [7]
Somatic cells or body cells have a dipliod or full set of chromosomes. Gametes or sex cells, also called germ cells, have a hapliod number of chromosomes or half the number. Somatic cells are diploid cells, whereas the gametes are haploid cells. Meiosis does not take place during the production of somatic cells, whereas meiosis takes place during gametogenesis (production of gametes) giving rise to haploid cells. Somatic cells do not fuse during sexual reproduction, whereas gametes fuse during sexual reproduction giving rise to a diploid zygote.Somatic cells are found almost everywhere in the body, whereas gametes are restricted to certain parts

A recessive allele causes phenylketonuria (PKU) when homozygote. If the frequency of the recessive allele is 0.05 in the populat
Radda [10]

Answer:

0.095

Explanation:

Phenylkentonuria is a disease caused by a recessive allele.

The frequency of the recessive allele + the frequency of the dominant allele equals 1.

The frequency of the recessive allele is q = 0.05

The frequency of the dominant allele then is p = 1  - q = 0.95

If people mate randomly, the frequency of the homozygous dominant genotype will be p², the frequency of the heterozygous genotype will be 2pq and the frequency of the homozygous recessive genotype will be q² .

2pq=2× 0.05 × 0.95

2pq=0.095

The heterozygote frequency in the population is 0.095
