Solve this system of linear equations. separate the x- and y- values with a coma. -2x=8-6y
Alenkasestr [34]
The y variable has the same coefficient so use elimination (subtract equations).

    -2x = 8 - 6y
-(-15x = 21 - 6y)
------------------------
    13x = -13 + 0

x = -1
Use this to find y in either equation.
-2(-1) = 8 - 6y
2 = 8 - 6y
2 - 8 = -6y
-6 = -6y
y = 1

(x,y) = (-1, 1)

Find the approximate distance between line –2x + 2y = 8 and the point P (4, −2).
nikklg [1K]
Hello,

-2x+2y=8==>y=x+4(1)
The perdicular passing trought (4,-2) is
y+2=-1(x-4)==>y=-x+2(2)
The intersection is
(1)-(2)==>2x+2=0==>x=-1 and y=-1+4=3
Q=(-1,3)
P=(4,-2)
Distance PQ= √(( -1-4)²+(3+2)²)=√50=7,0710678...

If h(x) = 5x − 3 and j(x) = −2x, solve h[j(2)] and select the correct answer below.
Sati [7]
Sub 2 for x in j(x) and evalueate
then sub that result for x in h(x)

j(2)=-2(2)
j(2)=-4

now sub-4 for  x in h(x)

h(-4)=5(-4)-3
h(-4)=-20-3
h(-4)=-23

answer is -23
