An essay is a type of writing that uses literary methods or techniques. It is generally associated with fiction or poetry to report actual events, places, or people.

 

Explanation:

Based on the needs, there are seventeen types of essays:

• Definition Essay

Like its name, a type of definition essay defines different ideas, things, and perceptions.

• Narrative Essay

Narrative essays are narratives like short stories. However, this is dissimilar from a short story because it is written in essay format.

• Descriptive Essay

Descriptive essays describe things to make the reader feel, see, smell, feel, or hear what is explained.

• Expository Essay

Exposition essays expose something in a specific way to make readers understand without complications.

• Persuasive Essay

Persuasive essays are intended to influence the target audience to do things or not do things.

• Argumentative Essay

Argumentative essays are intended to portray arguments in favor of things. It has an extra fourth body paragraph intended to present opposing arguments.

• Analytical Essay

Analytical essays analyze things, as in literature analytical essays analyze a part of literature from various angles.

• Comparison and Contrast Essay

Comparative and contrast essays make contrasts, comparisons, or both between two dissimilar or similar things.

• Cause and Effect Essay

Essays of cause and effect make the reader understand the cause of something and its impact on other things.

• Critical Essay

Critical essays are written in literary works to assess them based on their strengths or weaknesses.

• Process Essay

The process essay outlines the process of breaking or making or doing things that are fully understood by the reader and they can do it after reading it.

• Synthesis Essay

A synthesis essay means synthesizing ideas to make judgments about their strengths and weaknesses.

• Explicatory Essay

An explicatory essay is intended to explain literature. It is often written in the form of poetry, short stories, and novels.

• Rhetorical Analysis Essay

Rhetorical analysis essays evaluate a piece of rhetoric or speech based on rhetorical strategies and the tools used in them.

• Review Essay

A review essay discusses the advantages and disadvantages of a book and assesses it through reviews.

• Simple Essay

A simple essay is just a five-paragraph essay written on every topic after it has been determined.

• Research Essay

Research essays revolve around research questions intended to answer specific questions through relevant literature research.
