The statement is false as a complete definition of body image does not include the levels of individual’s intelligence.

Further Explanation:

The term body image is synonymous with other terms like body concept. In a very broad manner, body image implies the way any individual perceives and identifies his/her own body. It includes an individual’s perception and way the person integrates his/her experiences and their physical appearance. To keep it in a simple definition, body image is a perception of what an individual sees when they look into a mirror. There is a second definition of body image is based on social and cultural phenomenon. This definition enforces certain specific perception as normal. A person can have either a positive body image or a negative body image. A positive body image implies that the individual accepts the perception and they are comfortable with it irrespective of body shape or weight. A negative body image means that the individual is not satisfied with their body weight or shape and they feel that effort needs to be made so that they can improve it.

There are many factors that affect individual’s perception of body image. Some of these factors include mass media, ethnic groups, peers, and even family some times. All these factors can influence if the individual’s perception is distorted.
