I think schools have a very elementary way of remembering 9/11. A day that should be remembered by remembering the lives that were lost. A day we’re I think should be just meditating and appreciating all the first responders. Deeper into how family’s lives were affected. I do NOT think it should be remembered by giving lengthy assignments and basic worksheets on what happened. Then students get unmotivated and do not want to do their work which loses the respect they have for the tragic event. I think we should just reflect and go into it with meaning not because it was a “school assignment”

Somewhat, they don’t teach you about the missing money that disappeared right before the terrorist attacks and a lot of others, but they lightly show you what first responders had to do in order to save as many people as possible.

Hardin Hardin uses a Lifeboat metaphor to introduce his argument. What is the central idea of this argument?
Rudiy27

Hi!

The central idea of the metaphor was that the people in the lifeboat are the rich nations, whereas those that are drowning are the poor nations.

This metaphor is known as lifeboat ethics, and is used to illustrate the distribution of resources.

The metaphor depicts a lifeboat which is boarded by 50 people (the wealthy nations), and 100 people swimming in the surrounding water at risk of drowning. The 'ethical issue' is stirred by the fact that there is room for 10 more people on this lifeboat, and if the surrounding people should be taken aboard -and if so, what would be the conditions of such an act.

Hope this helps!
