Greg is training for the upcoming basketball season. His schedule this week allows him to complete at most 8 training sessions.

When Greg trains, he either spends 45 minutes on skills or 35 minutes on conditioning. To avoid excess fatigue, his coach requires Greg to spend no more than 360 minutes training in any week.
Which system of inequalities can be used to determine the time spent on skills, x, and the time spent on conditioning, y, that Greg can complete this week?

Answer:

\left\{\begin{array}{l}x+y\le360\\ \\\dfrac{x}{45}+\dfrac{y}{35}\le 8\end{array}\right..

Step-by-step explanation:

Let x minutes be the time spent on skills and y minutes be the time spent on conditioning that Greg can complete this week.

1. To avoid excess fatigue, his coach requires Greg to spend no more than 360 minutes training in any week, then

x+y\le 360.

2. When Greg trains, he either spends 45 minutes on skills or 35 minutes on conditioning. If Greg spends x minutes on skills, then \dfrac{x}{45} is the number of skills training sessions. If Greg spends y minutes on conditioning, then \dfrac{y}{35} is the number of conditioning training sessions. His schedule this week allows him to complete at most 8 training sessions, then

\dfrac{x}{45}+\dfrac{y}{35}\le 8.

Therefore, the following system of inequalities can be used to determine the time spent on skills, x, and the time spent on conditioning, y, that Greg can complete this week

\left\{\begin{array}{l}x+y\le360\\ \\\dfrac{x}{45}+\dfrac{y}{35}\le 8\end{array}\right..

What is the main cause of tides?
Aleks04 [339]
I'm not exactly sure on this one but please bare with me haha

High tides and low tides are caused by the moon and tides are really all about gravity(hence why all of these answers have gravitational in them). And, when we are talking about "daily tides" it's the moon that causes them.

The moon's gravity draws in various areas of our world as it rotates. Since the moon is just 1/100th the mass of the Earth, it has enough gravity to shift objects about. The ocean on the moon's far side is still trying to bulge out against it. A high tide is what we term this bulge. (Water is easy to move around too)

This is tidal force, and there are differences between high tides and low tides.

Can someone please answer thisss

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

What we want to know, is what linear equation with two variables can be solved by x=6 and y =5, and x = 12 and y =13.

All linear equations can be represented as y=mx+b.

We know y must be 5 when x is 6, so we can say that

5 = m*6 + b

Likewise, y is 13 when x is 12 so

13 = m*12 + b

I am going to take the second equation (13 = 12m + b) and subtract 5 from both sides.

This gives

8 = 12m+b -5

We know from the first equation that 5 = 6m+b. So we can substitute that into 8 = 12m +b -5.

8 = 12m+b - (6m+b)

8=12m+b -6m -b

8 = 6m

m = 8/6 = 4/3

Now take the first equation (5 = 6m + b) and replace m with 4/3

5 = 6*4/3 + b

5 = 8 + b

b = -3
