Slavery began when the other colonies noticed that South Carolina citizens we're using them. Some of the other colonies had to do the labor themselves, and them not wanting to, bought slaves (Weather from the Europe or Africa) and used them for their own goods. A alternative could be the people doing the work themselves.

Positive changes for them through the reconstruction years are that African Americans could become sharecroppers and Florida had to rewrite the constitution allowing African Americans the right to vote in order to rejoin the United States Of America.
