A survey is taken among customers of a fast-food restaurant to determine preference for Hamburger and Cheeseburger. Of 180 respo
stiv31 [10]

Using it's concept, it is found that the probabilities are given as follows:

a.1/2, 1/9, 5/9.

What is a probability?

A probability is given by the number of desired outcomes divided by the number of total outcomes.

In this problem, 90 out of 180 individuals are children, hence the probability is given by:

p = 90/180 = 1/2.

Out of 90 adults, 60 - 50 = 10 preferred cheeseburgers, hence the probability is given by:

p = 10/90 = 1/9.

Of the 180 individuals, 90 are children, and 10 are adults who prefer cheeseburgers, hence the probability is given by:

p = 100/180 = 10/18 = 5/9.

Hence option a is correct.

Below are 36 sorted ages of an acting award winner. Find the percentile corresponding to age 34 using the method presented in th
Thepotemich [5.8K]

Answer:

The percentile for age 34, is 28th.

Step-by-step explanation:

First, you have to order the data set:

 • A = {17, 19, 22, 27, 28, 31, 32, 32, 33, 34, 37, 38, 38, 39, 40, 41, 42, 47, 48, 49, 52, 52, 52, 53, 57, 58, 58, 59, 60, 60, 61, 64, 64, 71, 71, 76}

Now, you have to count the position of 34 in the orded data set:

 • Position of 34: 10.
 • Total of elements in the data set is 36.

Now, to find the percentile of 34, you have to divide the position of the value with the total elements and then, multiply by 100.

percentile_3_4 = \frac{10}{36} \cdot100 = 27.7 = 28

The percentile of 34 for this data set is 28th, this means that if the data set would have 100 values, 34 would be greater than 28% of the values, lesser than 72% of the values.
