First, x+y=60 and solve for x

x= 60-y

Then set up the equation 11x+6y=460

Since, x=60-y, you plug in for y

11(60-y)+6y=460

660-11y+6y=460

660-5y=460

660-660-5y=460-660

-5y=-200

Divide both sides by 5 (you can drop the negative because they are both negative)

5y/5 = 200/5

y=40

Then take y & plug it back into the original equation of:

x+y = 60 (solve for x)

x+40=60

x+40-40=60-40

x=20

The answer is 20 adult tickets (x) and 40 child tickets (y) were sold.

Lisa makes a cherry pie and an apple pie. She cuts the cherry pie into six equal wedges and she cuts the apple pie into eight eq
ale4655 [162]

Both the pies at first have 360* as their initial complete angles.

The Cherry Pie is cut into 6 parts equal and the angular width of each piece will be 360/6=60*...therefore, each piece is 60*.

the Apple Pie is cut into 8 parts and the angle of each piece would be 360/8=45*...therefore, each piece is 45*.

Now the angular difference between the pieces of the 2 pies is 60*-45* = 15*.

Therefore the Cherry pie's piece is 15* greater than the Apple pie's piece.

plz help In Alexis’ English class, 21 students completed an essay by the due date. There are 30 students in Alexis’ English clas
yarga [219]

Answer:

70%

Step-by-step explanation:

I'm sorry but I don't really know how to explain it other than 70% of 30 is 21 so that means that 30% of the students turned their essay in on time.

(sorry for not being able to explain it but I hope it helped)

Use the Chain Rule to find the indicated partial derivatives. z = x^4 + xy^3, x = uv^4 + w^3, y = u + ve^w Find : ∂z/∂u , ∂z/∂v
k0ka [10]

I'll use subscript notation for brevity, i.e. \frac{\partial f}{\partial x}=f_x.

By the chain rule,

z_u=z_xx_u+z_yy_u

z_v=z_xx_v+z_yy_v

z_w=z_xx_w+z_yy_w

We have

z=x^4+xy^3\implies\begin{cases}z_x=4x^3+y^3\\z_y=3xy^2\end{cases}

and

\begin{cases}x=uv^4+w^3\\y=u+ve^w\end{cases}\implies\begin{cases}x_u=v^4\\x_v=4uv^3\\x_w=3w^2\\y_u=1\\y_v=e^w\\y_w=ve^w\end{cases}

When u=1,v=1,w=0, we have

\begin{cases}x(1,1,0)=1\\y(1,1,0)=2\end{cases}\implies\begin{cases}z_x(1,2)=12\\z_y(1,2)=12\end{cases}

and the partial derivatives take on values of

\begin{cases}x_u(1,1,0)=1\\x_v(1,1,0)=4\\x_w(1,1,0)=0\\y_u(1,1,0)=1\\y_v(1,1,0)=1\\y_w(1,1,0)=1\end{cases}

So we end up with

\boxed{\begin{cases}z_u(1,1,0)=24\\z_v(1,1,0)=60\\z_w(1,1,0)=12\end{cases}}

Answer:

  5 cm

Step-by-step explanation:

The kite is symmetrical about the long axis, so the height of each of the triangles is half the overall width of the kite. (10 cm/2 = 5 cm)

The height of the triangle <em>h</em> is 5 cm.
