the brackets can represent multiplication or group large
for example

5 × 4 + 7 × 9
(5 × 4) + (7 × 9)
20 + 63
= 83

or

73 + 92 + 54 + 96 × 6

(73 + 92) + (54 + 96) × 6

165 + 150 × 6

315 × 6

= 1890
