Answer:

him as the Napoleon Bonaparte of our team.

Explanation:

 • Napoleon Bonaparte was one of the greatest general and strategist from France who had tremendous capabilities in tactics and planning strategies in warfare.
 • As allusion is the act of making informal reference to something or someone, Moshe has been referred as Napoleon Bonaparte of the team because of his strategic ideas that helped the team win the all-city trophy.
 • In most cases, allusions does not necessarily describe the exact details of the person or thing which are being referred to. For instance, "You are such a good Samaritan." is often used to signify a good person although not exactly as the one mentioned in the Bible.

Rufina [12.5K]

Answer:

Participating in student government should not be required in High School. There are many extra credit activities that may be a better fit for the student. By forcing them to be involved in it, they loose their right to chose and they wont be given the chance to participate in the activities they want to. If a student wants to be a writer or photographer and to persue this, they want to join yearbook, they wouldn't be able to because of the time involved for being in student government.

What do her comments say about Higgins as the archetype of the wise old man the teacher?
evablogger [386]

Answer:

Elisa's comments present the tone and words that were taught to her by Higgins. The fact that she tries to follow exactly what Higgins taught, characterizes Higgins as a wise teacher, who is testing the advances of his young apprentice, who is not as well trained as he seems. This shows that Elisa sees him as an old man, a teacher, since she faithfully trusts everything he taught.

Explanation:

This question is about "Pygmalion," a theater play that features florist Elisa, who has not had access to quality education and is unable to speak correctly. She wants to change her life and become a lady, so she seeks out eccentric Professor Higgins to teach her how to speak and behave properly.

Although Higgins sees his dedication to teaching Elisa, an experiment, Eliza sees him as a wise and intelligent man, who must be followed in his teachings, which she tries to follow at all costs, although it does not work out in the beginning.

Higgins presents the archetype of a wise old man, a teacher, as he is an expert in linguistics and has dedicated his life to the study of language. This archetype is reinforced when he keeps Elisa as his apprentice, so that he himself tests his ability to change someone with the power of language.

PLEASE HELP
Jet001 [13]

Not much is said about the protagonist's cultural background in "Condensed Milk". He does refer to himself and other prisoners as "politicals":

'There was no reason for us politicals to be there . . .' This most likely means the protagonist is an educated man, possibly a writer or a journalist whose words and work was deemed dangerous by the Russian government.

Such a background helps the protagonist understand how things really work at the camp. He knows the offer to escape is a trap. He is smart and cunning enough to get some condensed milk out of the deal and then to break it off. He uses his intelligence to stay alive a little longer.

Who is Varlam Shalamov?

"Condensed Milk" is a short story by Russian author Varlam Shalamov (1907-1982). It was written based on the author's experience as a prisoner at a Gulag, a forced-labor camp.

The name and previous history of the protagonist are not revealed. He does not belong to the same group as the thieves, for example. He was arrested for being "political", which leads to assumptions about his background. He is most likely educated, which means he can be seen as a threat to the government for having his own opinions and the power to express them.

In conclusion, the protagonist of "Condensed Milk" uses his intelligence and knowledge to remain alive.
