add 2 to all 3 sides of the equation to get:
-2 < 4x < 4
Divide all 3 sides of the equation by 4 to isolate x:
-0.5 < x < 0.5
so x is between but not equal to negative one-half and positive one-half.

so that leaves 4x
divide by four
