We commonly associate the color red with passion or anger. This is an example of connotation. According to the Cambridge dictionary, "connotation" means "something that is suggested by a word or thing".  Red is an emotionally intense colour, it is the colour of fire and blood. It is the colour of extremes since it represents passionate love but also danger, anger and adventure.
