Answer:

It is never good to live in horrible conditions because it brings diseases, starvation, and hunger with no food or water. Also, it is not about being good at adapting.  In Haiti, people live every day with unimaginable poverty and shameful living conditions. Therefore, it is never favorable to live in garbage filled horrendous places. However, it is good for peole living in such places to be resilient.

You can. If I were you, I would try to use your character inner thoughts to try and start it off. You can do that by using italics. Here's an example:
