The act that set the tone of Act 1 in Cyrano de Bergerac was that of the drunken party guy called Ligniere who left the play to go and get drunk and party

The action of the character Ligniere , appearing in the play being drunk and leaving for the same created his identity in the play as a drunk character. His actions and words all support the mockery tone of the play. In addition, the theme of the play is identity thus in a mockery tone we are introduced to the traits of Ligniere as drunk person who would prefer parties over serious matters.
