Gilgamesh was clearly terrified as he charged at the Humbaba. However, he mustered up the courage and went forward. Even when he felt that he could not move forward, he went ahead and took a risk. Ultimately, his bravery and risk taking worked out in his favor because he held the knife to Humbaba's throat.
