A nerve signal is like a wave. how does this work

Biology

Hi There!

A nerve signal or impulse is an electrical message that travels along an axon. There is an difference between the inside of the axon and its surroundings. When the nerve is activated, there is a sudden change in the voltage across the wall of the axon, caused by the movement of ions in and out of the neuron. This triggers a wave of electrical activity that passes from the cell body along the length of the axon to the synapse.

Hope This Has Helped

Which term describes the form of a gene that produces a specific trait such as eye color
andrey2020 [161]

1. In the late 1800s, Mendel predicted the existence of units of hereditary information or factors. What do we call these units of hereditary information today?

chromosomes or genes im not sure

2. Which term describes the form of a gene that produces a specific trait, such as eye color?

allele

3. Which term describes a type of trait that is usually expressed only when an organism has two identical alleles for the trait?

homozygous

8. Refer to the following information to answer Questions 8 and 9.

A certain species of grasshopper can have red stripes, yellow stripes, or red and yellow stripes. An RR grasshopper has red stripes, an YY grasshopper has yellow stripes, and an RY grasshopper has red and yellow stripes.

Which type of inheritance is this an example of?

codominance

9. A grasshopper with red stripes mates with a grasshopper with yellow stripes. What ratio would you expect to see in the phenotypes of their offspring?

all with yellow and red stripes

10. Which of the following best describes the relationship between a gene and an allele?

An allele is a variant of a gene.

11. Which of the following is the best physical description of a gene?

A gene consists of all of the DNA on a chromosome.

12. Suppose you cross a true-breeding blue flower with a true-breeding yellow flower. In the next generation, all of the flowers are blue. What does this outcome tell you about the allele for blue flowers?

The blue allele is dominant to the yellow allele.

Predict the phenotype of an operator mutant (O c) which would prevent the binding of the repressor.
liraira [26]

Answer:

c.The lac genes would be expressed continuously.

Explanation:

The correct response is (c) The lac genes would be expressed continuously because the active repressor cannot bind to the mutant O c operator. Accordingly, the repressor will not be able to inhibit RNA polymerase from binding to the lac promoter, producing the lac operon to be transcribed continuously or constitutively. Formerly again the level of appearance is inversely proportionate to the level of glucose already present.

Which of the following is a basic type of vaccine?
Katyanochek1 [597]

The basic type of vaccines are:

nucleic acid vaccines

subunit vaccine

live, attenuated vaccine

An easy, secure, and reliable method of preventing hazardous infections before you are exposed to them is vaccination. It boosts your immune system and builds up your body's natural defenses against particular illnesses.

Your immune system is trained by vaccinations to produce antibodies, exactly as it does when it is exposed to a disease. However, because vaccinations only include dead or weakened versions of bacteria or viruses, they do not really cause the disease or increase your chance of developing its symptoms.

In order to create immunity, vaccines act in conjunction with your body's natural defenses. Your immune system reacts when you receive a vaccination.
