The Antonine Plague (smallpox and measles) most likely emerged in China shortly before 166 CE spreading westward along the Silk Road and by trading ships headed for Rome. Sometime between late 165 to early 166 CE, the Roman military came into contact with the disease in western Asia and brought it back to Rome.

The epidemic most likely emerged in China shortly before 166 CE spreading westward along the Silk Road and by trading ships headed for Rome. Sometime between late 165 to early 166 CE, the Roman military came into contact with the disease during the siege of Seleucia (a major city on the Tigris River). One factor in this may be the Antonine Plague, a mysterious epidemic that the army brought back from West Asia which ravaged the empire from roughly 165-190 CE. The Greek physician Galen described symptoms common to smallpox, and the loss of life was incredible.

Explain how sound waves are processed in the ear and then relayed to and processed in the brain.
Vikentia [17]
The process of hearing starts by pressure/sound waves that are captured by our ears and taken inside the ear by the ear canal reaching firstly the eardrum. The eardrum then vibrates according to the pressure waves that were captured making the acicular (a set of 3 little bones) enter into motion. These vibrations then move from the acicular to the inner ear. Within the inner ear, we can find the cochlea which is where these mechanical waves are converted into electrical signals and then passed to the brain. The auditory cortex of the brain then interprets this signals as sounds and gives them meaning.

If the Civil War had begun as a war to restore the Union, how did this Proclamation changed the purpose of the war?
OlgaM077 [116]
The Proclamation changed the purpose of the war into one of freeing slaves completely, making the long war into one about wether or not slavery would remain in place . The South claiming that they needed slaves to work on their plantations and needed slaves to help around was a major part of the war . They wanted to continue on this racist act of holding “different” people under their feet. Many say now that the this was not a reason for the war nor the separation between the north and south but when looking back at every statement made by every southern state slavery is mentioned for their uprising .
