Answer:

Day 1 =8

Day 2 = 12

Day 3 = 18

Day 4 = 27

Step-by-step explanation:

Let x be how far he rode on  the first day

He rode 1.5 times how far he rode on the first day on the second day

1.5 x is how far he rode on the second day

He rode 1.5 times how far he rode on the second day on the third day

1.5(1.5 x) is how far he rode on the third day

2.25x

He rode 1.5 times how far he rode on the third day on the fourth  day

1.5(2.25x) is how far he rode on the fourth  day

3.375x

He needs to ride a total of 65 miles

day 1 + day 2 + day3 + day 4 = 65 miles

x + 1.5x + 2.25x + 3.375x = 65

Combine like terms

8.125x = 65

Divide each side by 8.125

8.125x/8.125 = 65/8.125

x=8

He needs to start with 8 miles on the first day

x=8

1.5x = 12

2.25x =18

3.375x =27

Day 1 =8

Day 2 = 12

Day 3 = 18

Day 4 = 27

Answer:

25.2

Step-by-step explanation:

A calculator will evaluate this for you. If you don't have one, you can use a Google search box.

The Order of Operations tells you to start evaluation with the inner parentheses. Multiplication is performed before addition.

2(7 +2(2.8))

= 2(7 +5.6)

= 2(12.6)

= 25.2
