A modern deck of cards contains fifty-two cards (thirteen in each of four suits). The four suits are hearts, diamonds, clubs, an

d spades. Hearts and diamonds are red, and clubs and spades are black. Each suit consists of cards labeled 2 through 10, followed by jack, queen, king, and ace. Face cards are the jack, queen, and king; and picture cards are the jack, queen, king, and ace.
Determine how many cards, in an ordinary deck of fifty-two, fit the description.

Well since there are 13 cards per suit, you start off with 13 cards. then since there are 4 suits that are able to be used, but one of those 4 is the spades suit. so you have 3 6's that can be used besides the spades. so you are left with a total of 16 cards that fit the description.

Answer:

The mean is 95 and the standard deviation is 2

Step-by-step explanation:

Central Limit Theorem

The Central Limit Theorem estabilishes that, for a normally distributed random variable X, with mean \mu and standard deviation \sigma, the sampling distribution of the sample means with size n can be approximated to a normal distribution with mean \mu and standard deviation s = \frac{\sigma}{\sqrt{n}}.

For a skewed variable, the Central Limit Theorem can also be applied, as long as n is at least 30.

In this question:

Population:

Mean 95, Standard deviation 12

Samples of size 36:

By the Central Limit Theorem,

Mean 95

Standard deviation s = \frac{12}{\sqrt{36}} = 2

Karla has spent $42 on food. She bought milk, cheese, and meat. The milk cost half as much as the cheese and the meat cost four
Alina [70]

M = milk

C= cheese

X=meat

milk = 0.5c

meat = 4c

cheese = 1c

4 +0.5 = 1c  = 5.5c

C= 42/5.5 = 7.64

X = 7.64 x 4 = 30.56

M =7.64 * 0.5 = 4.67

30.56 + 3.82 + 7.64 = approximately $42

The following sequence is arithmetic. 18, 11, 4, -3, -10, -17….
Romashka-Z-Leto [24]
Hello,

It is true that the sequence is arithmetic. Its common difference, of subtracting 7 each time, is always going to subtract 7 from each number.

Hope this helps!

On the first day a total of 40 items were sold for $356. Define the variables and write a system of equations to find the number
Alina [70]

Question:

On the first day, a total of 40 items were sold for $356. Pies cost $10 and cakes cost $8. Define the variables, write a system of equations to find the number of cakes and pies sold, and state how many pies were sold.

Answer:

The variables are defined as:

"c" represent the number of cakes sold and "p" represent the number of pies sold

The system of equations used are:

c + p = 40 and 8c + 10p = 356

18 pies and 22 cakes were sold

Solution:

Let "c" represent the number of cakes sold

Let "p" represent the number of pies sold

Cost of 1 pie = $ 10

Cost of 1 cake = $ 8

Given that total of 40 items were sold

number of cakes + number of pies = 40

c + p = 40 ------ eqn 1

Given items were sold for $356

number of cakes sold x Cost of 1 cake + number of pies sold x Cost of 1 cake = 356

c \times 8 + p \times 10 = 356

8c + 10p = 356  ----- eqn 2

Let us solve eqn 1 and eqn 2

From eqn 1,

p = 40 - c    ---- eqn 3

Substitute eqn 3 in eqn 2

8c + 10(40 - c) = 356

8c + 400 - 10c = 356

-2c = - 44

c = 22

Substitute c = 22 in eqn 3

p = 40 - c

p = 40 - 22

p = 18

Thus 18 pies and 22 cakes were sold
