A special privilege that the Constitution gives to the members of Congress that is, debates in Congress cannot be questioned in the courts. The United State’s congress is also known as the US federal government’s bicameral legislature.

 

EXPLANATION  

The congress consists of the House of Representatives and the Senate as the chambers of congress. United States Capitol, in Washington, D.C. is the place where the congress meets. All of the members of the Senates and the House of Representatives are chosen through the process of election. The election of the members is direct.

There are 100 senators and 435 representatives. So, in total, there are 535 voting members. The members of the House of Representatives have the duty to serve for two years, representing the people with the single constituency, or also known as the district. Each state of the United States represented by two senators. There are 50 states, so in total there are 100 senators. Each senator is elected for six years of serving through the election.

There are also terms and conditions for a person to be eligible as a member. A person must be aged at least 25 years old to be the House of Representatives, and at least 30 years old to be the Senate. All candidates for the election have to be United States citizens, at least 7 years for the House of Representatives and 9 years for the Senate.
