Essay about a scary incident you witnessed using
pashok25 [27]

Hi. Your question is incomplete because you didn't show what should be used in the essay. This prevents the essay from being done exactly as you need it. Anyway, I will write an essay below and I hope this helps you and that you can adapt it to the requirements of your question.

The frightening incident I witnessed happened to myself, which makes it that much more terrifying from my point of view.

That moment happened on a completely normal day where I was ready to go to school. I used to take the bus to get to school as it was so far from my house and I couldn't drive at that time.

I was one of the first to get on the bus and while waiting for the other students to get in and occupy the empty seats, I felt a strong impact, which threw me forward violently. I ended up banging my head on the chair across from me and felt violent stabs of pain in my head. I got up still dizzy and realized that the same had happened to all the students who were on the bus.

We were all scared and not quite understanding what was happening when we saw the driver getting out of the bus and heading towards the back of the vehicle, as the impact came from that direction. All the students, including me, got out of the bus and saw that a car had collided with the back of the school bus.

Although no one was seriously injured, the rear of the bus and the car were destroyed. I had a lot of headaches from hitting it in the chair, but I was more scared because it all happened so suddenly and could have had very scary results.

I'm trying to write a letter to the editor and i don't know how to start the first sentence.
grin007 [14]
Well, my ELA teacher always told me to try to avoid saying me or I... anything in first person when writing an essay. So, I would start like this.

Nuclear Bombs (sad facts about bombs, or just opinions). So why have them at all.            And that would go into the paragraphs of what you might have.

but If I were to start with I believe or I think, That's something you'll have to do yourself, because "I" It'self tells me that only that person can do it. But I will give you tips! Think about what you've wanted really bad, but your parents won't let you have it. You would most definitely give them reasons to why you should have it or what benefits it would do. Apply that to your writing, and I'm almost positive, It could help anyone.

I hope this helps :3

Identify three types of figurative language in Dickinson’s poem. Then analyze the impact of these techniques on the text. How do
FromTheMoon [43]

Answer:

The “carriage” in which the speaker rides with Death is a metaphor for the instant of physical death, although it is presented as something that moves in time (a day or centuries). The speaker elaborates upon the occupants of this carriage, saying that it just held Death, herself, and Immortality. The word immortality suggests that death does not mean the end of life but a continuation of some unspecified state of being.

This description of the speaker’s two companions also uses personification, another form of figurative language. Both Death and Immortality are presented as actual beings who ride in the chariot with the speaker. Similarly, the speaker presents Death as a gentleman who is both kind and civil.

The first stanza of the poem contains a third form of figurative language, a paradox:

Because I could not stop for Death –

He kindly stopped for me –

The Carriage held but just Ourselves –

And Immortality

In these lines, Dickinson juxtaposes death and immortality, two notions that oppose each other. This juxtaposition makes the reader rethink the meaning of death by associating it with immortality.

Dickinson uses figurative language to promote a calm acceptance of death. Although death in itself is tragic, Dickinson treats it with the emotional maturity of an old friend. Her aim is perhaps to drive home the idea that life goes on after death or to show that death isn’t something we should fear because we secure the immortality of infinite time in death.
