Patrick Henry in this excerpt from his 1775 speech to the Convention of Delegates in Virginia is imploring the delegates to open their eyes and see that Great Britain is fomenting war against the colonies and that in the text of the main speech he says for 10 years the colonies have been asking the British for better treatment and almost begging for it but all to no avail and so this is why he says that the idea of peace at all costs is wrong and that it is better to die fighting than be enslaved any longer by the British.

Will a certain kind of setting always have the same effect in a story?
matrenka [14]
No, because it can be in a serious sense like "They had a sunny day at the beach" but in a mocking tone like "The day was sunny, mocking me at the loss of my wife in that fire, one year ago today"

In paragraph 33, what is the reason the author gives to be comforted?
Orlov [11]

Philip Yancey believes the reason to be comforted after God allows man one hour of suffering in an entire lifetime of good feeling, is the fact that life on Earth lasts just for a short time in comparison with the wonderful future God has for man in heaven, living in eternity.
