1\ tens=10 \\1\ hundred=100

so

1) the expression 17\ tens is equal in numbers to

17\ tens=17*10=170

2) the expression 1\ hundred\ 7\ tens is equal in numbers to

1\ hundred\ 7\ tens=1*100+7*10=100+70=170

therefore

17\ tens and 1\ hundred\ 7\ tens have the same value
