the time, t, required to pick some apples varies directly with the number of bushels of apples to be picked, b, and inversely to

T = kb/ p
1.5 = (k*4)/3
First find k.
Multiply both sides by 3
4.5 = 4k
divide both sides by 4
1.125 = k
t = 1.125b/p is the formula.

1.8 = 1.125*b/5
Multiply both sides by 5.
9 = 1.125*b
Divide both sides by 1.125
b = 8

A line goes through the points (8,9) and (-2,4).
vazorg [7]

Answer:

 • slope = 1/2
 • equation: y = 1/2x +5

Step-by-step explanation:

Slope

The slope of the line between two points (x1, y1) and (x2, y2) is ...

... m = (y2 -y1)/(x2 -x1)

For your given points, the slope is

... m = (4 -9)/(-2 -8) = -5/-10

... m = 1/2

Equation

The point-slope form of the equation for a line can be written ...

... y = m(x -h) +k . . . . for a line of slope m through point (h, k)

Using the first point given and the slope just calculated, the equation for the line can be written ...

... y = (1/2)(x -8) +9

... y = (1/2)x -4 +9 . . . . eliminate parentheses; next, collect terms

... y = 1/2x +5

Suppose you are saving your money to pay for a vacation for your family. so far, you have saved. you plan on saving more each mo

440 repeat 11 more times.

400+(400*.1)=440 repeat 11 more times. Remember to use a new value each time.

Vacations can get expensive fast. The average cost per person for a week-long vacation is about $1,200 annually. So, if you've got a family of five, you'll need to sock away at least $6,000 for transportation, hotels, meals, and amusement parks.

Financial experts suggest that the average family vacation costs between 5-10% of your total income. If your family makes $40,000 per year then experts say your yearly family vacation budget should average between $2,000-$4000.
