What were the immediate conflicts and deeper causes that led the united states and the soviet union to go from being allies to b
aleksley [76]
Immediate conflicts:
... The USA had atomic weapons and the USSR did not.  (The US would not share that technology with the Soviets.)
... The USSR did not assure that free and fair elections took place in Eastern Europe -- it saw to it that Soviet-aligned governments were installed there.
... Tensions over the East Germany / West Germany and East Berlin / West Berlin division of territory.

Deeper causes:
The USA was committed to capitalism and democratic institutions of government.
The USSR was committed to communism and imposed authoritarian government.
The Cold War was mostly a tension between these worldviews.

When are secondary sources more useful than primary sources
Reptile [31]

Advantages: Primary sources directly address your topic and often provide information that is unavailable elsewhere. For example, the questions you compose for an interview or a survey will likely target your unique interest in the topic. Similarly, to test a particular hypothesis, you can design your own experiment.
Disadvantages: Some primary sources, such as eyewitness accounts, may be too close to the subject, lacking a critical distance. Others, such as interviews, surveys, and experiments, are time consuming to prepare, administer, and analyze. Finally, unless you have been trained in accepted methodologies, your own primary research in certain fields of study may not be recognized as valid.

Explain the concept of manifest destiny and how that contributed to america's expansion?
Bumek [7]

boooooy I tell you what -

Manifest Destiny was a 19th-century belief that the expansion of the US throughout the American continents was both justified and inevitable.

They got all hyped up on coca cola and jolly ranchers and began moving out west fast as all heck. Firstly many believed God himself approved of their decision to expend westward ( you know how fierce religious beliefs were). Then you have to remember the impact gold can have on a mans mind, they heard bout gold in California and well the reasons added up to make it seem nearly criminal not to go. Those are just some of my reasons of how the belief in manifest destiny compounded the influence upon much of the american people. ( pardon some non-factual events )
