By using the imagine of a well-built man, confidentiality performing his study, the message is clearly showing the Navy as a 'macho' organisation that will enlist only the best.

The colours are prominent and the poster does use cartoonish exaggeration to convey the message.

At the time, the majority of men who joined the navy were 18-19 year olds. Many of them coming from rural areas without a lot of opportunities. For them, the poster and the simple message, did only seem like good employment opportunities but invoked a sense of purpose in the young minds.

In my opinion, the poster is highly effective.
