It was difficult for George Washington to form a large army because not everyone supported the war, men enlisted for only a year, congress couldn't supply the army, and people who were in the army could be executed by Britain for treason
I think these groups would be opposed to war because they would be the ones fighting them. The working class would have no choice to whether they live or die- that would be up to the leaders.
